John: game-time valuable

9 September 2020

Cameron John says getting another 90 minutes under his belt will stand him in good stead for the start of the new Sky Bet League One campaign.

John played at left-back in the EFL Trophy game against Bradford City, and says he is feeling close to full match fitness.

He said: “It was a good game for us to be involved in with the league season coming up, it would have been nice to win in 90 minutes but it’s something to build on.

“We’re coming on quite nicely and making some good additions, it’s a case of making sure we all know what we’re good at.

“I’ve played a lot of minutes in the past 10 days or so and my body is feeling much more up to speed now.”

John showed his versatility throughout his loan spell at the Keepmoat Stadium last season, and says he is keen to develop his game in all areas.

He added: “I learnt a lot from playing the left-back role last season, it’s given me chance to have a proper look at it in terms of what I did well and not so well.

“Those experiences have helped me to kick on in whatever position the manager wants to play me in, having that confidence to do well is a big thing.”
