AJ Greaves made his first start for Gainsborough Trinity in the Northern Premier League on Saturday as he began his one-month loan at the Lincolnshire club with a 2-0 victory.
Greaves impressed on his debut with his pace and neat skill as well as with his work ethic as the tie was in the balance for most of the game. Greaves was happy to be back out on the pitch again getting significant game time and has settled in nicely at his new club.
“I was glad to play over 80 minutes, it’s been a while since I’ve played that long,” Greaves told Trinity’s YouTube channel.
“Everyone has made me feel welcome, so it was just a normal day at the office.”
Greaves has made a great start for Gainsborough, playing crucial minutes and he is keen to develop as a player over the next few weeks. He believes manager Curtis Woodhouse could play a key part in his development.
“It was Woodhouse that attracted me to this club,” he added.
“Darren Moore told me that Woodhouse used to play like me when he was my age so that intrigued me to come and play for him.”
The youngster impressed his new gaffer with his performance and Woodhouse believes Greaves will be a great addition to Trinity’s team over the next month.
“AJ is going to be a good player for, he was great on the ball today,” Woodhouse told his club’s YouTube channel.
“He made some great tackles and he has that bit of spite in him which I like as well. As far as debuts go it was as good as it gets.”
AJ Greaves and Trinity travel to AFC Mansfield for their next fixture in the Emirates FA Cup on Tuesday September 22.
