Moore: We were worthy winners

20 September 2020

Darren Moore believes his side were worthy winners as they took three points from a trip to The Valley.

His side put in an excellent performance and goals from Madger Gomes and Tyreece John-Jules either side of an own goal by Charlie Barker put Rovers 3-0 up before Conor Washington got one back for Charlton Athletic.

"It was a really good team performance,” said Moore.

“I thought we epitomised the work that we’d done in the week and it’s always nice when you work hard all week and you finish off with a good away day performance and result.

“They started the first five or ten minutes really strongly and then we had a spell just before half when we got the first goal.

“I thought we dominated the ball really well for large periods. I knew second half they’d change their shape and be more on top of us but when the second goal went in it gave us a cushion and I thought we were worthy winners.”

Moore also had praise for youngster John-Jules who had worked hard throughout the game and, when his chance game, dispatched it excellently.

“It was great for Tyreece to get on the scoresheet,” he added.

“I know the ability he’s got and when you get him in those areas you want him to express himself the individual brilliance which he has got and he showed that today.”
