Seb Stockbridge will be the man in the middle when Rovers take on Bradford City in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night.
The Tyne-based official has been on the EFL list of referees since the start of the 2013/14 campaign, and handed out 89 yellow cards and six reds in 28 games last season.
The last time he took charge of a Rovers game was the 1-0 win at home to Oxford United on New Year’s Day.
Stockbridge will be assisted by Andrew Hendley and Lisa Rashid at the Keepmoat Stadium, the fourth official will be Daniel Middleton.
