Andy Haines will be the man in the middle when Rovers take on MK Dons in their Sky Bet League One opener this weekend.
The Tyne & Wear based official has been on the EFL list of referees since the start of the 2007/08 campaign, and handed out 84 yellow cards and eight reds in 32 games last season.
The last time he refereed a Rovers match was the 1-1 draw at home to Accrington Stanley in December 2019.
Haines will be assisted by Steven Rushton and Alistair Nelson, the fourth official will be Alan Clayton.
