Wright proud to reach 100 starts for Rovers

11 September 2020

Joe Wright says he will be proud to reach 100 competitive starts for Rovers if he achieves that milestone this weekend.

The centre-back has been with the club since the summer of 2016, and feels he has established himself into a senior member of the squad.

He said: “Myself and Tom Anderson have both been here a while now and have been able to get some consistency as a partnership.

“I’m proud to have reached that number of games but personally I would have liked to have done a little bit more and played more games but injuries have stopped me from doing that.

“A lot of my work since I’ve been back fit is on injury prevention and doing all I can to be a regular in the team.”

Rovers take on MK Dons in their Sky Bet League One opener on Saturday, and Wright believes the competitive games they have played so far have prepared them well.

He added: “It’s been good to have the two competitive games to get a grasp of what it’s like without having fans there.

“I think that has allowed us to work on things in more of a competitive environment and for most of the lads to get 90 minutes.”
