Tom Anderson says he has used his role as captain to try and encourage his team-mates through a tough spell in Sky Bet League One.

Rovers have lost their last three league games, and Anderson says it’s important for them to stick together as they look to turn a corner

He said: “I’ve always said that you can do as much talking as you like but when it comes down to it you have to find the motivation and desire to go and win a game of football.

“It’s easy to listen to outside noise but we’ll just keep going about our business and do what we can to get back to the form we showed earlier in the season.

“As captain I try to be as positive as I can in the changing room, it’s my job to encourage the lads and lead by example.”

Rovers face Wigan Athletic at the Keepmoat Stadium this weekend, and Anderson says they have to be up for a battle against the Latics.

He added: “They are a good footballing team and we have to forget about where they are in the league, we have to make sure we match how much they want it.

“They will be fighting for their lives as Bristol Rovers were, so we need to guard against that and be much better on the ball.”
