Butler: errors cost us

21 April 2021

Andy Butler says individual errors cost his side in the defeat to Accrington Stanley in Sky Bet League One.

Two Dion Charles penalties either side of Tyreece John-Jules’ leveller secured all three points for Stanley at the Wham Stadium.

He said: “It’s two mistakes that have cost us, you can’t give the referee those decisions to make which is disappointing.

“It’s not the first time it’s happened and sometimes in the heat of the battle you can get a little bit lost in the moment.

“We knew Accrington would battle for every ball but I thought we matched them, it’s just frustrating to come away with nothing after the work we put in.”

John-Jules’ goal was his first since returning from a three-month injury lay-off, and Butler says he’s made an immediate impact.

He added: “Tyreece came on and made an impact, he got his goal and was unfortunate not to have another one just after that.

“We’re still managing his minutes due to the nature of his injury but he’s shown what he’s capable of from the bench.

“He provides a threat and knows where the back of the net is, which gives the opposition something else to think about.”
