Butler looking forward to going up against Adkins

1 April 2021

Andy Butler says he is looking forward to going up against his former manager and physio Nigel Adkins on Good Friday.

The pair worked together during their time at Scunthorpe United, but will be on opposite dugouts when Rovers take on Charlton Athletic in Sky Bet League One.

He said: “Nigel was my physio at Scunthorpe before getting the manager’s job there, he’s had a brilliant career in management since then.

“I spoke to him before stepping into the role here, he gave me some advice and I’m looking forward to going up against him.

“He is someone I’ve always had a good relationship with and throughout football you meet people who have a good impact on you.”

After a frustrating run of form in recent weeks, Butler says his players have shown a lot of willingness to learn in the build up to Friday’s fixture.

He added: “We’ve approached things positively and spoken to the players about what we want to happen when we get into the final third.

“As a manager you have to pick players up when results go against you, and make sure they are clear with what we want from them.”
