John-Jules disappointed to come home empty handed

21 April 2021

Tyreece John-Jules was disappointed his goal at Accrington Stanley couldn’t help Rovers secure something from the game at the Wham Stadium on Tuesday night.

The Arsenal loanee came off the bench to score and look as though he’d secured his side a point, only to see it slip away thanks to a late Dion Charles penalty.

He said: “It was a disappointing end to the game, second-half we got into the game and scored a goal but lack of concentration cost us at the end.

“I was happy to come on and help the team, it was good for my confidence to hit the back of the net but it was a shame we couldn’t take anything from the game.

“I managed to play a little one-two with Fej and thought a shot was the best option, and fortunately it found the corner.”

The goal was his first since returning from a long-term hamstring injury, and he says he feels he’s come back stronger on and off the pitch.

He added: “It’s been a frustrating few months for me watching the games from home and not being able to effect things.

“It’s my second big injury of the season and I was devastated but I had it in my mind to come back stronger.”
