Lokilo pleased with Posh point

28 April 2021

Jason Lokilo says Rovers were happy to spoil the party after earning a 2-2 draw against Peterborough United in Sky Bet League One.

Despite being two goals down with a quarter of the game gone, Rovers showed grit and determination to strike back through Fejiri Okenabirhie and Taylor Richards.

He said: “It was a really tough game, they were hoping for promotion but we did a really good job of taking something from it.

“We didn’t want to see them celebrating after the game so we had to give everything to make sure that didn’t happen.

“We heard the fans outside the ground with the fireworks but that motivated us more to get back into it.”

Lokilo provided assists for both Rovers goals, and was a constant threat from the wide areas as the game went on.

He added: “I gave the ball away for their second goal so I was just pleased to contribute with a couple of assists at the other end.

“We’ve been doing some work in training with our link up and it came off in the game, Fej’s goal gave us confidence just before half-time.

“I was disappointed not to score, Matt Smith played a brilliant ball over the top but I just couldn’t guide it either side of the goalkeeper.”
