Fejiri Okenabirhie was pleased to help secure a pressure-relieving victory for Rovers at Shrewsbury Town in Sky Bet League One.

The No.9 bagged his 13th goal of the season against his former club, setting Rovers on their way to a 2-0 win at Montgomery Waters Meadow.

He said: “It was a much needed win for us, it’s been a long time coming but the hard work has paid off with three points.

“It’s been a difficult spell for us and we’ve not performed as well as we would have liked, but that was much more like us.

“It was important to score first and give us something to hold on to, it’s been a while since my last goal so it was nice to see that one go in.”

After sealing their first win since early March, Okenabirhie says the focus now has to be on finding a level of consistency for the rest of the season.

He added: “It has to come from within to keep striving for better performances, the boys did well and showed what we can do.

“Hopefully this can increase the belief within the squad, you can’t beat that winning feeling and we’ve definitely missed it.”
