Taylor: it was a no-brainer to stay here

26 April 2021

Jon Taylor says he’s over the moon to be staying with Rovers after penning a new three-year deal with the club.

The 28-year-old has put agreed to stay at the Keepmoat Stadium after two seasons with the club which have both been curtailed for different reasons, and is looking forward to making up for lost time.

He said: “I’m made up to have signed a new deal, the club knew I wanted to stay here so the talks were pretty straightforward.

“The way the club have treated me since I’ve been here has been brilliant, I’m happy here and have no reason to want to go anywhere else.

“If I was to go anywhere else I would have felt like I’d not achieved anything here given the way both seasons have finished for me.”

As well as sticking around on the pitch, Taylor is planning to move to South Yorkshire on a permanent basis off it.

He added: “I spoke to Gavin Baldwin about moving to Doncaster, I’ve had the discussions with my partner but I know Tom Anderson is looking for a place as well.

“He’s asking me to move in with him so I’ve got a decision there as to who I’ll be living with next season.

“We’re very good mates and we drive in separately due to Covid now but we’re on the phone all the way to training.”
