Jon Taylor has been named this year’s Rovers PFA Community Champion for his fantastic work in the Doncaster community.

Despite the challenges presented by the pandemic, Jon’s commitment to helping support our community was unwavering - with the winger getting involved with a range of Club Doncaster Foundation projects and initiatives throughout the season.

“I’m absolutely thrilled and proud to win the award”, explained Jon.

“I think it’s really important that as professionals we do what we can to help support our community, especially during this time.

“I’ve seen first-hand the good that these projects can do so I’m always keen to get involved and help out where possible, and now lockdown restrictions are easing I’ll hopefully be able to do more of these visits face-to-face.

“The club, Foundation and Doncaster community are like one big family and it’s something I’m very proud to be part of.”

Jon threw himself into a number of projects including Tackling Loneliness Together, where he delivered care packages to local residents and spoke to isolated fans by phone and email, as well as regularly visiting various organisations such as Club Doncaster Doncaster Titans and Doncaster School for the Deaf.

He also spoke passionately about the topic of mental health and the pressures that the game puts on young players. This included informative talks with the some of Rovers' academy sides where he offered them support and guidance on how they can help deal with some of their feelings and emotions that he experienced growing up.

John Davis, Club Doncaster Foundation CEO, said: “I’d like to personally thank Jon for his efforts in our community.

“He’s really thrown himself into a range of our projects and he’s always willing to get involved as much as he can, often contacting us to ask what more he can get involved with.

“The impact he’s had on the Doncaster community is clear to see. Congratulations, Jon!”
