Dahlberg delighted to be the hero

11 August 2021

Pontus Dahlberg says it was good to make an impact early in his Rovers career after his penalty-saving exploits against Walsall on Tuesday night.

The Watford loanee made three saves in a row in the shootout which sealed Rovers' progression to round two of the Carabao Cup.

On his excellent performance in the penalty shootout:

“As a goalkeeper you love penalties because you have so much to win from it.

“I didn’t speak to their goalkeeper Carl Rushworth much because I was just focusing on doing my job for the team.

“I didn’t research their penalties I just tried reading their players. Penalties are all about mind games.”

On the support he has received since his arrival:

“I saw the Sweden flag in the stands behind me and I was buzzing for that.

“It was nice to see and hopefully it will follow us home and away now.

“There’s lots of positivity around the place and the staff and players and been really welcoming too.”
