An error from Rovers gifted Joe Pritchard an opening goal for Accrington Stanley in the opening three minutes and Richie Wellens men were unable to recover.
After weathering a storm for the opening 15 minutes, Rovers turned it into an even game and a change of formation early in the second half (Wellens moved to a 3-5-2 with the introduction of Omar Bogle and Cameron John) saw a much better period. But crosses and cutbacks missed their intended recipients, and Kyle Knoyle’s effort from distance was tipped over by James Trafford which left Rovers without a goal.
