Dan Gardner says he can’t wait to get going after putting pen to paper on a deal following a successful trial period.
Gardner became the second trialist to be given a contract and the tenth signing of the summer when he joined on the eve of the new season.
“I’m buzzing to have finally signed,” he said.
“I’ve been training with the club for about four weeks now, so I’m happy to get a deal over the line and now I’m really looking forward to the start of the season.
“The last few weeks have been really good, obviously I’ve worked with the gaffer and some of the coaching staff before, so know what he’s about and what he wants. There are some brilliant lads here and we’ve had some really positive training sessions so hopefully we can take that into the league this season and get the results that we want."
Gardner knows the league well and has faced Rovers on a number of occasions saying he has always been impressed by the club.
“I’ve played here at Doncaster many times, I remember coming last season and being really impressed,” he added.
“The pitch was immaculate, the stadium is great and it’s a big club. I remember thinking that this would be a good place to play to football and it just so happened that the gaffer got the job. I spoke to him as soon as he got the job and he asked me if I’d be interested in coming here. At that point it was a no brainer for me and I believe the best place for me to play my football is here.
“It’s absolutely brilliant to be able to have fans back. Playing with no fans last season was a strange and you could see how much everyone missed them. I can’t wait for Saturday - not only see the fans for the first time myself, but also for them to come to their first competitive game in almost 18 months, it’s going to be really special for them. I hope we give them something to cheer about and they get right behind us.”
