Rovers have signed experienced midfielder Dan Gardner on a one-year deal.
The 31-year-old brings with him a wealth of experience having made more than 260 career appearances.
He has impressed on trial with Rovers this summer and scored what turned out to be the winner against Sky Bet League Two side Harrogate Town last time out.
Having come through the ranks at Crewe Alexandra, it was a spell with Chesterfield where Gardner established himself after joining in 2014.
After three years and almost 100 appearances for the Spireites, he departed for Oldham Athletic before moving to Wigan in September of last year.
He featured 40 times for the Latics in all competitions, and becomes Richie Wellens’ 10th new signing of the summer. He will wear shirt No.23.
