It was a valliant effort from a very young Rovers side at the bet365 Stadium on Tuesday evening including an assured performance from 19-year-old centre back Ben Blythe on his first start for the club and a debut for 16-year-old Ethan Harrison who game on with ten minutes of the game remaining.
Goals either side of the break for Tom Ince and Sam Surridge sealed defeat for Rovers, but Tommy Rowe (who came on at half-time) and Charlie Seaman (who replaced Cameron John after 12 minutes) both had chances.
