Ethan Galbraith and Tiago Cukur could be fit to face Rotherham United on the weekend while John Bostock and Cameron John will be assessed again on Friday.
Ro-Shaun Williams is unlikely to be risked this weekend.
After the weekend’s fixture, Rovers will have a ten-day break before they are next in action with a Papa John’s Trophy match against the Millers on September 7.
The break will give the players carrying knocks the chance to recover fully ahead of Sky Bet League One matches against Wigan Athletic and Morecambe.
Tom Anderson’s ankle injury will require longer-term treatment, but he is on track to return to the playing squad before Rovers travel to Plymouth Argyle next month.
There is more positive news on the players with long-term injuries with Jordy Hiwula and Jon Taylor progressing well and expected to be back in match action within three to four weeks.
