Knoyle excited for Rovers debut

5 August 2021

Kyle Knoyle spoke to the local media ahead of this weekend’s Sky Bet League One opener against AFC Wimbledon at the Keepmoat Stadium.

The full-back is set to make his competitive debut for Rovers, having joined from newly promoted Cambridge United this summer.

On how he’s settled into life at Rovers:

“I feel like it’s been a smooth process for me. The team have been very welcoming and I was already familiar with the manager and his assistant.

“My plan for myself is to keep progressing and to try and play as high as possible, and I felt like being here was the right place to improve.

“The manager demands a lot, he sets high standards every day and he wants the players to be leaders.

“I know the style of play the wants and it suits me and my game, it makes it an easier process for both parties.”

On how he and Tommy Rowe will push each other to provide goals and assists this season:

“The full-backs are key in this system and I managed to contribute a decent amount at Cambridge last season, so hopefully I can improve on that.

“Tommy’s a very good player and of course a fan favourite from his previous spell here.

“Seeing the hunger that he’s got pushes me on and I think the full-backs can push each other to make us better.

“We’ve got Charlie Seaman and Branden Horton pushing us as well so the competition is really healthy.”

On the return of fans helping Rovers this season:

“It’s massive, I’ve enjoyed it in the pre-season games so far and it means everything to have them with us.

“It has an impact on the way you play, when they’re behind you it brings out that extra 1%.

“We want the fans to experience every game and every moment with us, we know how much it means to them all.”
