Kyle Knoyle says the game against Harrogate Town was a good test as Rovers finished off pre-season with a 3-2 victory at The Envirovent Stadium.
After friendlies against two teams playing Premier League football last season, Knoyle felt Sunday’s friendly was more like a league match.
“It was a good test and more realistic to what we’ll see in the league,” he said.
“I thought we did well in spells and maybe not so well in others but that’s what pre-season is like.
“It’s been a stop-start pre-season for myself and a few other players so today was just about working towards what we’re trying to achieve.
“We’re getting more sharpness game by game and with every training session. Obviously the COVID case disrupted it a bit but we’re getting back to it.”
Knoyle opened the scoring for Rovers in North Yorkshire with a delightful volley over the keeper and says getting on the scoresheet is something he’s hoping to do more this season.
“I was pleased with the goal. I’m happy to score but I’d like to do that many more times throughout the season,” he added
“I’m excited about the start of the season. It should be a good one. There are a lot of good teams, and our team is shaping up well so I’m definitely looking forward to it.”
