Marc Edwards will be the man in charge when Rovers travel to Stoke City on Tuesday evening in the Carabao Cup second round.
Edwards joined the National List of Referees in the summer of 2019 and has taken charge of just two Rovers matches: an EFL Trophy match vs Rotherham United and a league match vs Charlton Athletic.
The man from Tyne and Wear has overseen just one match so far this season the South Yorkshire derby between Rotherham and Sheffield Wednesday. He handed out five yellow cards in that match.
On Tuesday, he will be assisted by Kevin Morris and Abbas Khan. Paul Marsden will be the fourth official.
