John Busby will be the referee in charge for Rovers’ first round CarabaoCup fixture against Walsall FC on Tuesday.
Busby took charge of two of Rovers’ league games last season - a 1-1 draw at home to Sunderland and the 3-1 away defeat of Charlton Athletic.
In both games he gave out two yellow cards - all four bookings were for Rovers’ players.
In his only game officiating Walsall last season, he gave out two yellow cards - one to each team in their 0-0 draw to Exeter City.
Busby’s last cup fixture was at Wembley, where he covered the FA Vase final in May between Binfield and Warrington Rylands.
His last red card was dished out in March, to Peterborough United’s Ethan Hamilton - for two bookable offences when he faced Hull City.
On Tuesday, he will be assisted by Matthew Jones and Steven Meredith. Daniel Leach will be the fourth official.
