Rovers’ U18s kick-off their EFL Youth Cup campaign by hosting Bolton Wanderers for their first group match.
Bolton, who compete in the EFL North West Alliance League, come into the game on the back of a 3-0 win over Tranmere Rovers last weekend. That result was their first win of the season having drawn their first league game against Accrington Stanley.
Rovers U18s boss Gary McSheffrey will be looking for a response from his side who lost 2-0 to Grimsby Town last weekend. McSheffrey also hopes to have some second year scholars back available.
The game marks the first of three matches in the group stage. Other games include Mansfield (A) and Oldham (H) which will take place at the end of September and beginning of October respectively.
The game against Bolton will take place behind closed doors at Cantley Park. Kick-off 11am.
