Fans are returning to the Keepmoat Stadium for a competitive match for the first time since February 2020 as the side face AFC Wimbledon in the opening game of the 2021/22 season.
Rovers enter the match with a newly-assembled squad led by new manager (but familiar face) Richie Wellens. A pre-season campaign full of challenges including injuries and a COVID-19 case within the squad has led to a range of results including a high-scoring win against local side Wakefield AFC and a narrow defeat to Premier League Newcastle United.
There have been nine new faces through the door for Rovers and a real sense of optimism and rebuilding in the air.
