It’s been 521 days since the last time Rovers played an away match in front of their own fans, so it will be a special occasion for the travelling faithful when Richie Wellens’ men take to the pitch to face Walsall in the first round of the Carabao Cup.
Walsall have had a difficult pre-season and started their Sky Bet League Two campaign with a defeat to Tranmere Rovers, but head coach Matt Taylor wants to use Tuesday’s match as a way to relieve pressure and allow his side to make a good impression in their first home match.
Rovers boss Wellens has said much the same stating that he wants his side to learn from Saturday’s opening day defeat and hopes the cup gives them an opportunity to play with freedom.
