Joe Dodoo spoke to the media ahead of a visit from high-flying Sunderland on December 27.
The striker believes Rovers will need to show more of the fighting spirit which was evident in their victory over Shrewsbury Town last time out.
On a disrupted Christmas period:
“We’re not thinking too much about games being called off because all we can do is look after ourselves and make sure we’re ready whenever we have a game.
“We’re just keeping our heads down at the moment and making sure we’re staying in shape.
“We’re working hard to find some consistency. We’ve been keeping our standards high in training.”
On showing character:
“We showed maturity in our last game. We showed that, if a team are on top, we have to fight and see it through.
“For me, the most pleasing thing was that every single player was fighting right until the end to make sure that we got the three points.
“It’s great to see the young lads coming in. Things haven’t been easy for us as a team. It’s been backs against the wall a lot of the time but the young players are showing real character to come into the team and fight for the club. They’re coming into high-pressure moments and I think they’ve been fantastic.”
“I’m looking forward to the game because we get a chance to follow up on our last win.
“I think it’s a challenge that we need. It will be a tough game but if we get a result here it will go a long way and bring a lot of confidence to the squad.
“It would be nice to get a result against a team who are vying for promotion.
“We have an opportunity to do the right things, work hard and try to get something out of it.”
