Gary McSheffrey spoke to the media ahead of Tuesday night’s game against Oxford United in Sky Bet League One.
The game at the Keepmoat Stadium will be McSheffrey’s first league fixture since his appointment as caretaker manager.
On what he wants to achieve during his time in charge:
“We want the team to have a robustness and be able to pull each other together when the game isn’t going all our way.
“I’ve encouraged the players to have a bit more freedom in attack and express themselves when they get the opportunity.
“There is a bit of everything from my perspective but the important thing is picking up points.”
On Oxford’s threats:
“It will be a high energy game, they’ve got a front three that would cause any defence problems.
“They like to get the ball down but can mix it up as well, they won’t mess around and will go long if needed.
“They’re a difficult team to play against and there is a reason why they’ve been in the play-offs for the past two seasons.”
