James Bell will be the man in charge when Rovers make the trip to Morecambe on January 2.
The Sheffield and Hallamshire-based official was promoted to the National List of Referees in the summer of 2020 and Sunday will be just the second time he has overseen a Rovers’ match.
He was in charge when Rovers saw off Oxford United with a 3-2 home win in February 2021. Bell handed out four yellow cards that day with Tom Anderson and Joe Wright booked for Rovers.
Bell has taken charge of 23 matches in the current campaign handing out 77 yellow cards but no reds.
On Sunday, Bell will be assisted by Billy Smallwood and Paul Graham. Lewis Raper will be the fourth official.
