Utilita Kids Cup final to take place Saturday

10 December 2021

On Saturday afternoon, Club Doncaster Foundation host the Utilita EFL Kids Cup area final between Shaw Wood Academy and St Peter’s Primary School.

The final will take place on the pitch ahead of Rovers’ league match against Shrewsbury Town.

The winner of the final will go on to represent Rovers in the regional final which is being hosted by Accrington Stanley. The winner of the regional final will go on to play the overall final at Wembley Stadium which will take place before the League One Play-Off final in May.

Both Shaw Wood and St Peter’s saw off strong competition from 25 teams in the qualifying tournaments to seal their place in this match.

The winner of the final will be presented with their trophy at half-time.

Sport Development Officer Heather King said: "Once again, we've had a great uptake from the schools in Doncaster and the surrounding areas who were eager to take part in the tournament.

“The chance to play the local final on the main pitch is always an added incentive as is the possibility of representing Doncaster Rovers at different stages of the competition. This is the first EFL Kids Cup we've been able to host since the pandemic, so it's been great to see so many school children come along and take part in the tournament and be out playing competitive sport against other schools again."
