Butler says Rovers will move on quickly

10 February 2021

Andy Butler says Rovers must put the disappointment of defeat to Fleetwood Town behind them and move on quickly.

The 3-1 defeat at Highbury was Rovers’ first in Sky Bet League One this year, and Butler says it was a bad night all round.

He said: “To concede three goals is disappointing for the whole team, we never really got into the game despite getting a lead.

“We went in 1-0 up at half-time but the mistakes in the second-half have gone on to cost us really.

“We won’t single people out as it’s a team effort and we have to do better, it wasn’t clicking for us for whatever reason.”

With the games continuing to come thick and fast as Rovers look to keep up their push at the top end of the table, Butler believes character in the group will be key.

He said: “We’ll watch the game back and have a proper look at it, there are always setbacks in football and sometimes it can be a blessing in disguise.

“It’s never easy having to accept defeat but I’m sure the manager and his staff will pick things out and make sure we respond.

“We’ve got so many big games coming up the important thing is to get the defeat out of our minds and move forward.”
