Jon Taylor gave Rovers the lead against the run of play on the half-hour mark but the visitors drew the game level just before the break when Sam Long tapped the ball home from close range after a blocked effort from and Oxford corner fell kindly to him.
The second half was a different story, however, and Darren Moore's men flew out of the blocks with Fejiri Okenabirhie getting his 11th goal of the season in cool fashion just after the break and Taylor Richards made it three minutes later.
The U's substitute Olamide Shodipo did get a second for the Us when his shot took a horrible deflection which wrong-footed Ellery Balcombe in the Rovers goal and made for a nervy final 20 minutes but Rovers saw the game out and claimed another three points.
