Darren Moore was always confident that James Coppinger was going to score that free kick in dying moments of the Hull City game.
Coppinger had designed the golden kit Rovers donned against their Yorkshire neighbours and came off the bench after recovering from injury to score the equalising goal in the 3-3 draw.
Moore said: “For the day, the player, the moment and the well struck free kick it was fitting for Copps to score that. I told him that I am absolutely delighted for him. That occasion was certainly well made for him.
“The moment didn’t faze him – he kept his composure and remained calm. He executed the free kick well.
“When the free kick happened, everyone in the ground saw Copps’ name on it. It was a special occasions for us all to be here today and to witness that. For the fans not to be here to witness it is gut wrenching.”
