Moore: we've used the week well

5 February 2021

Darren Moore says he has used a week without a midweek fixture to get his most recent recruits up to speed with the rest of the squad.

John Bostock, Josh Sims and Scott Robertson have all been training after joining Rovers over the past couple of weeks.

He said: “We knew we had to get one or two bodies in and beef up particularly our midfield and attacking areas.

“We’re pleased with the players we’ve managed to bring to the club, and now the aim is to get some of the boys off of the treatment table.

“It’s been useful to have a week without a midweek fixture, it gave the players a mental and physical break while also getting some work in on the training ground.”

Rovers face Oxford United at the Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday, in a game which sees two of the form teams in Sky Bet League One go head-to-head.

He added: “They’ve been very impressive recently and I think they’ve been consistently in and around it for the past few seasons.

“They have done a good job of adding to their squad and are probably a few years down the line with their own project now.

“Karl Robinson is an excellent manager and knows what he wants from his players, they are well drilled and very experienced.”
