Sims happy to be back from injury

16 February 2021

Josh Sims says he’s ready to get more minutes under his belt after making his return from injury in the game at Sunderland last time out.

The winger came off the bench at the Stadium of Light after almost two months out with a hamstring problem.

He said: “It was good to get out on the pitch, it was a shame about the result but it was nice to put the injury behind me.

“The type of injury it was means we had to take a bit of precaution with it to make sure it was fully healed when I came back.

“I was desperate to start training again with the lads, this is a loan that has helped me grow as a person and a player, it’s the most important one I’ve had so far and the most enjoyable.”

Rovers face Accrington Stanley in Sky Bet League One on Wednesday, and Sims says the players are looking forward to another big game at the Keepmoat Stadium.

He added: “It’s good that we’ve got two big games coming up and if we get results from both of those we’ll be right up there.

“We can’t dwell on the defeats too much, nobody around us really gained much ground which means we’re still in a similar position.

“All you want as a footballer is to be playing regularly and you couldn’t get anymore regular than a game every three or four days which is what we have at the minute.”
