Butler looking forward to Swindon test

14 January 2021

Andy Butler says Rovers will be going up against an improving Swindon Town team in Sky Bet League One this season.

Rovers head to the County Ground almost a month since their last league outing, and Butler says the focus is on keeping the pressure on at the top of the table.

He said: “Swindon are in a bit of a transition with the new manager and got a really good result at Ipswich last weekend.

“They have improved a lot and it will be a tough game, we’ll do our homework on them and look to expose their weaknesses.

“We’ll prepare properly and give ourselves the best opportunity of going there and picking up another three points.”

Rovers have lost just one of their past five league games, and Butler says they are keen to pick up where they left off before Christmas.

He added: “It’s all about momentum for us and we can take a lot from the win at Blackburn in terms of the way we defended late on.

“We showed what we can do against Championship opposition and we have to take confidence from that into the league campaign.

“We’ve got players capable of moving to different positions and doing a great job, and that shows the level of detail the manager goes into with each player.”
