AJ Greaves made his EFL debut for Rovers on Saturday when he came off the bench with 15 minutes of normal time remaining to help see out a 2-1 win over Swindon Town.

The 20-year-old made two EFL Trophy appearances last season, but spent the early part of the 2020/21 season on loan at Gainsborough Trinity.

Manager Darren Moore had plenty of praise for the youngster who provided energy and aggression in the middle of the park, keeping the ball out of danger and helping to drive the side up the field when they’d started to get pinned back by Swindon.

“He’s been around it and working with us long enough now to know what’s expected of him,” Moore said.

“He knows what he has to do in that midfield department and I thought he showed some good signs and his decision making was really good.

“He can feel really pleased with that.”

2020/21 a good season for the home grown youngsters as Greaves became the fifth Rovers Academy graduate to get minutes for Rovers first-team this season along with Louis Jones, Danny Amos, Lirak Hasani, and Liam Ravenhill.
