Moore pleased with win & clean sheet

27 January 2021

Darren Moore was pleased that Rovers secured another league win while keeping another clean sheet.

First half goals against AFC Wimbledon from Fejiri Okenabirhie and Taylor Richards meant Rovers maintained their excellent Sky Bet League One form.

Moore said: “It was a good, accomplished performance after we set the tone the early. Fej took his goal really well and that gave us great control of the game.

“Our passes kept them on the back foot in the first-half and we always expected going 2-0 up that in the second-half they’d come after us a bit more. But we managed to keep control of it and we saw the game out.

“When called upon Ellery was spot on with what he did, he stopped a lot of crosses and he punched away a few efforts. Everyone played their part well. There were parts of the game were I thought we could have made better decisions but that is only a small critique.”

The result moved Rovers up to fourth in the league with games in hand over their rivals.

He added: “We’re very pleased that we have managed to get seven wins from our last eight league games, but we keep taking each game as they come.

“If we get the performance right in games then we know the results won’t be too far away.

“I’m delighted with the clean sheet too because that sets a mentality. When I look at previous games we’ve given away goals in games we’ve won. So to get back-to-back clean sheets is good.”
