Darren Moore praises Andy Butler’s professionalism and hunger after the 37-year-old signed a new deal with Rovers in January.
Butler re-joined Rovers on a six-month deal in the summer of 2020 following a successful trial period and has extended his stay after showing impressive form in the early part of the season.
“Butts is a really experienced played, but what I’ve been impressed with with Andy is his condition and his knowledge of the game,” said Moore.
“He’s someone who really knows the football club and we’re really pleased to see him settle down here and put pen to paper.
“He’s a student of the game and his thirst and hunger for it is second to none. We saw it was the right thing to give him a contract as it settles Andy down.”
As well as adding an experienced head to a young changing room, Butler has played an important part for Rovers in Sky Bet League One. His return to League action coincided with Rovers four game winning streak through December.
“Andy’s showing at the moment how good he is at this level,” added Moore.
“His ability to play week in week out is testament to him and he’s been a wonderful acquisition for us.
“When there have been injuries to the defenders, he’s stepped in and he’s not looked out of place.”
