Ollie Yates will be the man in charge when Rovers travel to Swindon Town on Saturday.
This will be the sixth time the referee has taken charge of a Rovers match since he was fast-tracked to the National List of Referees in 2016 following an impressive campaign in non-league.
Yates hasn’t taken charge of a Rovers game since December 2019 – an EFL Trophy match which ended in a 3-0 defeat to Leicester City’s U21s – but he was the fourth official at last weekend’s Emirates FA Cup win over Blackburn Rovers.
He last refereed a Rovers league game in September 2019 when was in charge of a hard fought 0-0 draw away at Ipswich Town. He awarded six yellow cards on that day with five going to Rovers.
So far this season he has overseen 17 matches handing out 56 yellow cards and one red.
On Saturday, Yates will be assisted by Samuel Ogles and Adrian Tranter. The fourth official will be Trevor Kettle.
