Robert Jones will be the man in charge when Rovers travel to the London Stadium on Saturday to face West Ham in the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup.
Jones has enjoyed a rapid rise to top-flight football. He was added to the National List of Referees in the summer of 2016 and was promoted to Select Group 1 just four years later.
He has taken charge of nine matches this season - four in the Premier League – and has awarded 19 yellow cards but no reds.
Saturday will mark Jones’ second trip to the London Stadium having overseen a contest between the Hammers and Fulham in November – a match which ended 1-0 to the home side.
Jones is no stranger to Rovers either. During his first season working in the EFL – he oversaw Rovers’ 3-1 home win over Leyton Orient in League Two and the following season, he was in charge of a 3-3 draw with Blackpool.
Jones will be assisted Harry Lennard and Peter Kirkup. The fourth official will be Keith Stroud.
Saturday will mark the first time Rovers will have played a football match with a video assistant referee (VAR) which was introduced to the Premier League for the 2019/20 season. VAR is monitored from Stockley Park in West London and will be observed by Martin Atkinson who will be assisted Sian Massey-Ellis.
