Rovers fan Dave Schofield has won a massive £10,000 in the end of year Club Doncaster Lottery draw which took place over the Christmas period.
Unfortunately, with the current restrictions in place the draw could not take place on the pitch as usual, so group head of marketing and communications, Shaun Lockwood hosted, via Microsoft Teams, a game of higher and lower to decide the winner from a 10 person shortlist.
Dave was an early pacesetter with a score of eight and despite a few others going close, no one could beat his total.
He said: “I enjoyed playing the game, I was a tad nervous at the end, but I didn’t really expect to win.
“I’ve won a few prizes before, £50 recently and £500 some years ago, my son has also been on the shortlist for the £10,000 draw twice before but didn’t win, so this was third time lucky for our family.
“All my family - son, daughter and grandchildren - will get a share of the winnings and I will feel honour bound to sample some of my favourite tipples from my favourite distilleries.
“I’ve also put aside some of the winnings for a big family meal once we are all able to do so.”
Dave also donated £500 of his £10,000 total back to the club.
He added: “That was a no brainer for me. I’ve supported Rovers since 1963 and in these trying times, I was more than happy to donate some back”
