Ben Close says he’s excited for a new challenge after joining Rovers on a three-year deal.
The central midfielder arrives from fellow Sky Bet League One side Portsmouth, and says he is ready for the next chapter in his career.
He said: “It feels amazing to be here, to join a club like Doncaster is a really exciting challenge and one I can’t wait to start.
“I was offered a new deal at Portsmouth but I felt I was at a stage in my career where I needed a fresh start.
“Myself and my family are really excited to start this new chapter, I think the move can develop me as a person and a player.”
Close says manager Richie Wellens played a crucial role in bringing him to the Keepmoat Stadium.
He added: ““It feels like naturally the right step for me, the manager has showed how much he wants me and that was a big factor.
“He had a massive part to play and having played against his teams I can’t wait to fit into the way he wants to play.
“No matter who is in charge here, it’s a club that likes to play good football, and once I knew of the interest I couldn’t turn it down.”
