Knoyle wants to test himself with Rovers

17 June 2021

Kyle Knoyle says he’s looking forward to testing himself at Sky Bet League One level after signing a two-year deal with Rovers.

The 24-year-old right-back signed for the club after a successful two years with Cambridge United, which culminated in him being named in the Sky Bet League Two Team of the Year last season.

He said: “I had to find a club that suited me best, I want to get another promotion under my belt and I feel this is the best place for me to do that.

“It feels like the next logical step for me, this is the right place for me to progress and test myself at a higher level.

“I’ve worked with the manager before which was another factor in me coming here, I’ve heard really good things about the club so I’m excited to sign.”

After scoring twice and assisting a further six goals last season, Knoyle says he’s looking forward to showing the Rovers fans what he can do.

He added: “First and foremost I’m a defender and that is the main part of my game, but in the modern era you have to be effective going forward as well.

“Goals and assists are a big part of any full-back’s game now so to get a couple of goals and a few assists last season was nice.

“I’m looking forward to getting started, I’ve enjoyed the off-season but now it’s time to kick-on and get myself ready for the new campaign.”
