Richie Wellens was delighted with the addition of exciting right-back Kyle Knoyle who signed a two-year deal with Rovers on Thursday.
Wellens worked briefly with Knoyle during his time at Swindon Town and believes the 24-year-old is improving rapidly.
“Kyle’s a good pro and an extremely reliable performer,” said Wellens.
“He’s a fantastic athlete and will get up and down the pitch well.
“He’s defensively very good and he’s improving at a really good rate.”
Knoyle was a standout performer for Cambridge United throughout the 2020/21 campaign and was included in the Sky Bet League Two Team of the season.
“He’s played more than 130 league games and has been promoted with Cambridge,” Wellens added.
“He’s at a pivotal part of his career but we think he’s got the potential and attributes to play at a higher level than League One.”
