Williams excited to get started at Rovers

18 June 2021

Ro-Shaun Williams says he feels Richie Wellens can get the best out of him after he signed a two-year deal with Rovers.

Williams arrived from fellow Sky Bet League One side Shrewsbury Town, and says working closely with the manager will improve him as a player.

He said: “The club showed interest in me and with the manager coming in the talks progressed, once we’d spoken I just wanted to get the deal done.

“The manager played a big role in me wanting to come here, he’s got big plans and his ambition matches mine.

“He said a lot of good things and he feels he can improve me, he wants hardworking, humble players which is what I think I am.”

With almost 100 career appearances to his name at the age of 22, Williams believes the experience he’s gained will help him during his time with Rovers.

He added: “It was a big thing for me to go to Shrewsbury and get some appearances to my name, I enjoyed my time there but I’m definitely ready for a new challenge.

“I’ve played a lot of games at League One level and come up against most teams, I know a lot about the players I’m up against which can only be good for me.”
