Anderson happy to find the net

7 March 2021

Tom Anderson was delighted to open his goal-scoring account for the season in the win over Plymouth Argyle in Sky Bet League One.

Anderson’s first-half header from a James Coppinger corner set Rovers on their way to a 2-1 victory at the Keepmoat Stadium.

He said: “It was a great cross from Copps and I managed to get good contact on it for my first goal of the season.

“It’s been a while since my last goal, I’ve had a few chances recently and I’m just glad to get one in the bag.

“I keep putting myself in the right positions and luckily that one went in, we’ve spoken about being more ruthless from set-pieces.”

The three points continued Andy Butler’s 100% winning record in the league as Rovers boss, and Anderson says the players are giving everything for him.

He added: “We’ll do everything we can for the gaffer having worked with him for such a long time, I think the grit within the team was there to see.

“It’s all well and good being a good footballing side but there are bound to be times when you have to put bodies on the line.

“The manager wants to press higher and not let teams play out, and I think we’ve done that really well in the past couple of games.”
