Butler wants more conviction in attack

16 March 2021

Andy Butler wants his side to move the ball quicker in attacking areas when they face Oxford United in Sky Bet League One on Tuesday night.

Rovers go into the game on the back of a goalless draw against Northampton, and the manager feels there needs to be more conviction in their play.

He said: “We’ve spoken to the players and watched some clips on where we can improve in the final third.

“The build-up play was good against Northampton but the final product let us down which isn’t like us this season.

“Anything we can improve on we will do, we’ve made a couple of tweaks and hopefully the players can take that on board.”

It is just over a month since the two sides last met at the Keepmoat Stadium, and Butler is expecting another tough game against the U’s.

He said: “Karl Robinson has gone a great job there, they had a bit of a slow start to the season but they’re a really good side.

“They gave us a tough game at the Keepmoat and although we got the win they caused us a few problems.

“Myself and the analyst will look at their clips and find different ways to try and beat them depending how they go about things.”
