Club Doncaster's Martin Rowlands to run 10k for 10 days in aid of Firefly

22 March 2021

Club Doncaster’s Martin Rowlands is running 10k for 10 days to raise money for cancer support charity Firefly.

Martin’s role as Legacy Officer – helping to make the Rugby League World Cup (RLWC21) have a lasting and positive impact in the Doncaster community – has given him chance to get into the borough and meet people. Now, in these most challenging of times, Martin is looking to give something back.

Firefly aim to breakdown the stigma and embarrassment of personal cancer problems in young men and women and give those with the disease the confidence to communicate with friends, family and health professionals. The Doncaster-based charity also provide vital transport to medical appointments.

Martin said: “I have decided to set myself a challenge of running 10k a day for 10 consecutive days. I will be raising money for our local charity Firefly who continue to transport patients for cancer treatment.

“The money raised will help them towards costs of running and maintaining the vehicles. Firefly are a fantastic charity who help so many of our local people.

“Times are hard at the moment and the charity and I do really appreciate anything you can afford to donate to help Firefly continue doing a fantastic job.”
